Norman Beotrick Marion

Norman 'Dock' Marion, 85, Jonesborough, died Sunday, September 30, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Marion was a native of Johnson City and had lived the past few years in Washington County. He was a son of the late William Oscar and Leola Dobbins Marion. Mr. Marion was preceded in death by his wife, Pina Bunton Marion in 1997, one grandson, Little Bobby Saults; two brothers, Ted Marion and Jimmy Marion; three sisters, Dean Carr, Thelma Peters and Nebraska Marion and a half sister, Mae McIntosh. He was a retired plumber for the University of Tennessee. Mr. Marion was a US Army WWII veteran. He was in the uropean-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, and the Philippine Liberation Campaign. Mr. Marion earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, The Asiatic- Pacific Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and Bronze Star Attachment (Double), the WWII Victory Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII and the Marksman Badge and Carbine Bar. He was a Baptist. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Harrison and her husband, Emmett, Jonesborough; Jeanie Saults and her husband, Bob, Jonesborough and Kathy Paulus and her husband, Al, Stokesdale, NC; one sister, Dorothy Morie and her husband, Pete, Dandridge, TN; grandchildren, David Smith, Richard Smith, John Saults, April Murphy and Tiffany Paulus; great grandchildren, David Smith, Daniel Smith, Dillion Smith, Sarah Smith, Justin Smith and Nicholas Murphy; one step great grandson, Jimmy Shell and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mr. Marion will be conducted at 8 PM Wednesday, October 3, 2007 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend C. Bryant Collins will officiate. Military graveside services will be held at 1 PM Thursday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 PM and travel in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Saults, Emmett Harrison, Richard Smith, David Smith, Patrick Murphy and Kevin Koscher. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
