Norman J. Williams, 84, of Johnson City, passed away Friday, November 24, 2006 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Greene Co., but had lived in Johnson City most of his life. Mr. Williams was a son of the late David Joseph and Willie Mae Colette Williams. He was also preceded in death by one brother, David Williams, one sister, Virginia Williams and an infant son. Mr. Williams was retired from Beaunit Corp. in Elizabethton and was a member of the First Church of God in Johnson City. He was a member of the Johnson City American Legion. Norman was a U. S. Army veteran having served in the 8th division and was part of the invasion on D-Day. Survivors include; his wife, Verlie; two daughters, Donna Wilson and her husband Jerry of Marietta, GA and Janice Morris and her husband Tom of Johnson City; one son, Mike Williams and his wife Charlotte of Kingsport; his mother in law, Genevia Dockery; six grandchildren, Brandon, Beth, Lindsay, Brent, Paige and Chris; two great grandsons, Cayman and Aiden Prangley. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 PM Sunday in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Mr. Dan Stansberry will officiate. Burial services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brandon Wilson, Chris Williams, Brent Morris, Chris Prangley, Steven Dockery and Eddie Dockery. Honoary pallbearers will be Bill Johnston, John Scott, Don Malone Allen Estep, Donald Dockery, Bob Dockery, Conrey Dockery and Graden Trentham. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God, 801 W. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37604. The family would like to thand Dr. Kenneth Olive, Dr. David Jones and Dan and Sharon Stansberry for their care and support over the past year.
