Paul Samuel Rupert, 75, of 132 Rockwood Drive, Jonesborough, died Monday May 8, 2006, in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Williamsport, PA, and had lived in Jonesborough since 1963. He was a son of the late William Joseph and Eva Mae DeWald Rupert. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Emerson D. Rupert and Howard E. Rupert; and one sister, C. Alverna Hughey. He graduated with a B.A. degree in 1956 from the Lycoming College in Williamsport and attended Kutztown State College 1956 through 1958. He earned his M. Ed. degree at Penn State University in State College, PA, in 1963. He came to the University School in Johnson City in the fall of 1964. Mr. Rupert retired as an Art teacher at University School in 1992. Mr. Rupert was a U.S. Marine veteran having served during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Jean Rupert; two sons and daughters in law, Edward 'Rusty' William Rupert and his wife, Nancy, of Johnson City, and Vincent Emerson Rupert and his wife, Scottie, of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Kathleen Marie Rohrer and her husband, Joe, and Lori Jo Carr, all of Johnson City; one step son, Warren Elton Davis and his wife, Cristi, of Galion, OH ; one step daughter, Lana Jean Nicholas and her husband, Marvin, of Knoxville; eight grandchildren, Crystal Rhodes and her husband, Matthew, Jamie Green, Joy Peterson, Kaylee, Cody and Sammy Rohrer, Clayton and Nicholas Davis; one great grandchild, Jamison Paul; one brother, Clarence E. Rupert, of Montoursville, PA; one sister, Eleanor L. Williams, of Williamsport, PA. A funeral service has been scheduled for 8:00 PM Friday, May 12, 2006, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Pastor Lon Tobin will officiate. Burial will be held Monday, May 15, 2006, in Green Lawn Memorial Park in Montgomery, PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 4:00 PM and 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday. The family suggests, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to East Pine Grove Park United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1992, Johnson City, TN 37605.
