Peggy Jo Haws

Peggy Jo Vance Haws, 82, of Johnson City, TN, died on December 6, 2010 at NHC Healthcare in Johnson City. She was born in Bessemer, AL, and later moved to Boston, MA, where she graduated from Dorchester High School for girls in 1947. She then moved to Johnson City and retired from Ames Department Store in 2000. She was an inactive member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Haws was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Harvey Vance and Geraldine Marie McGuire, and her son Floyd Haws, Jr., and daughter Susan Yvonne Haws. She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Ann Haws; an extended family of first cousins, Myra Jean Gallagher and Carl OGara and their children and grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 PM Thursday December 9, 2010 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Rev. Michael Lester will officiate. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 2:50 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to Washington County/Johnson City Animal Shelter, 525 Sells Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37604.
