Perle A.'Jack' Sorah, 86 ,1305 E. Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, died Tuesday January 10,2006 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Sorah was a native of Keokee, Virginia and had lived in Johnson City since 1963. He was the son of the late Joseph and Virginia Sorah. He was a retired Auto Body Repairman having worked at Kelly Chevrolet in Big Stone Gap, Va., Presnell Motors in Elizabethton and retired from Sherwood Chevrolet in Johnson City. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific and the Guadal Canal Campaign.He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 2108 and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 9.He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart,Riflemans Medal ,the American Defence Ribbon and the Bayonet Metal. Mr. Sorah was of the Baptist faith and attended the Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.He is preceded in death by; his parents; five brothers ,five sisters; two infant children , Greta Faye and Harold Ray; two grandsons, James Dye and Jeremy Sorah. Survivors include: his loving wife of fifty nine years, Irene Egan Sorah of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Freda and Ronald Swartz of Morristown, TN; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Annett Sorah of Johnson City, Perle Jr.and Susan Sorah of Clinton,TN;two sisters, Maxie Frazier of Churchill and Hattie Reynolds of Miamisburg,Ohio; three grandchildren,Jonathan Sorah,Noah Sorah of Vienna,VA and Wayne Swartz of Talbott,TN; one granddaughter, Joyce Lee Dye of Memphis; one great grandson, Cyrus Swartz of Talbott; one great granddaughter, Rylee Swartz of Talbott; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Perle A.'Jack' Sorah will be conducted at 1 PM Friday, January 13, 2006 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Paul Crowe will officiate. Interment will follow in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW # 3382 of Kingsport. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM Thursday.
