Queenie Mitchell Chandler

September 3, 1923 — January 4, 2007

Queenie Mitchell Chandler, 83, formerly of Sunrise Dr., Elizabethton died Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the Appalachian Christian Village. She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City, a daughter of the late, John Ira and Maude Irene (Briggs) Mitchell. Mrs. Chandler formerly attended the Tacoma Church of God. She retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 42 years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Walter Chandler; a sister, Ruby Sanders and two brothers, Joseph and Ralph Mitchell. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Saundra and John Cole of Johnson City; two granddaughters, Janna Lee Cole of Johnson City and Jonda Ann Hill and her husband Brian and a great granddaughter, Annalee Grace Hill all of Lenoir, NC; a brother, Hobert Mitchell of Piney Flats and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Appalachian Christian Village and Adventa Hospice, and a very special thank you to Linda Bunton for the excellent care she gave to Mrs. Chandler. A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, January 6, 2007 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Rev. D. C. Byrd. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home no later than 1:40 to travel in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from among family and friends. There will be no formal visitation.
