Ralph 'Red'? Booth, 91, Johnson City, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at NHC Healthcare. Mr. Booth was a native of Unicoi County and had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a son of the late Charles Haun and Mary Etta Kilby Booth. Mr. Booth was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Booth.He was a WWII US Army veteran and a member of the 29th Infantry Division which invaded Omaha Beach with a first wave and also fought its way across France and Belgium until he was wounded in action. D-Day TO St. LO. 29 LETS GO This is to Certify that CPL RALPH W. BOOTH 34736358 Was a member of the 29th Infantry Division on D-Day, 6 June 1944, and served with it continuously until the capture of St. LO on 18 June 1944. C.H. Gerhardt Major General, US Army, Commanding Mr. Booth was retired from Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and was a former employee of Ledfords Food Center. He was a member of East Pine Grove Park United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jones and her husband, Dean, Johnson City; one son, Jim Booth and his wife, Garnetta, Johnson City; one granddaughter, Nancy Jones, Johnson City and two grandsons, David Jones and James Booth Jr. both of Johnson City. A funeral service for Mr. Booth will be conducted at 8 PM Wednesday, May 9, 2007 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Bob Edmonds will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Thursday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30- 8PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
