Raymond Butch Pickle

Raymond ?Butch' Pickle, 63, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Butch was a Washington County native and son of the late John and Florence Pope Pickle. Mr. Pickle was a loving husband, father and friend. He was a 1970 graduate of Jonesborough High School and ETSU music major graduate. He worked for many years as a general contractor before attending nursing school and graduated as valedictorian. Butch played for many bands through the years, including: Nomads, Moody Brothers, and After 6. His musical career ended with playing in a group called Never Alone at his church, Sulphur Springs United Methodist. Butch was an avid bird watcher and loved the outdoors. In addition to his parents, Butch is preceded in death by: his brother, John Pickle, and his mother-in-law, Pearl Marie Jones. Survivors include: his wife, Vanessa Pickle; two daughters, Susan Elizabeth Pickle Gergich, and her husband Kevin, Heather Michelle Overbay, and her husband Greg; one son, Danny Raye Gordon; one daughter-in-law, Bridget McCurry; one sister, Joanne Gregory; five grandchildren, Kayla Madison, Kallie Elizabeth, Andrew, Alex, and Faysal Sylas Dorton; two special nieces, Beth Hoilman and Carla Wood; one special nephew, David Griffith; one special friend, Chadwick Mumpower, and several nieces and nephews. The family welcomes anyone to the home at 2404 Larkspur Drive, Johnson City. The family of Raymond Pickle will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church. The memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM.
