Raymond Peterson

January 28, 1930 — March 13, 2013

Raymond Peterson, 83, of Unicoi, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Peterson was a Mitchell County, NC native and a son of the late James William and Alice Honeycutt Peterson. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U. S. Navy on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Essex. Mr. Peterson was a member of Clark Street Baptist Church. He was retired from employment with Johnson Motor Lines, Charlotte, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: four brothers, Roy, Briscoe, Carl, and Phin, and four sisters, Carrie, Geneva, Evelyn, and Birdie. Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Peterson, of the home; two daughters, Debbie Tamson, Charlotte, and Angie Patterson, and her husband Ted, Charlotte; four grandchildren, Melissa Biggers, and her husband Scott, Charlotte, Brad Houser, and his wife Devin, Mooresville, NC, and Jared and Spencer Patterson, Charlotte; two great grandchildren, Justin and Aaron Biggers; two sisters, Eula Laws, Burnsville, NC, and Pansy Hagie, Kingsport; his twin brother, Park Peterson, Burnsville, NC; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his dear friends C. L. and Dorothy Morrell. The funeral service for Raymond Peterson will be conducted 12:00 PM Saturday at Clark Street Baptist Church, Johnson City. Pastor Joe Beaver and Pastor Mike Anglin will officiate. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Committal services will be conducted 2:30 PM Monday in the U. S. National Cemetery at Mountain Home. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 2:00 PM Monday to go in procession to the cemetery for those services. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Clark Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 200 Clark St, Johnson City, TN 37604.
