Robert Bruce Mcfall

June 28, 1934 — September 12, 2012

Robert Bruce McFall died Wednesday, September 12, 2012, as a result of a fall. He was born June 28, 1934, the only child of the late Taylor Bruce and Verna Barnes McFall. He was educated in the Johnson City School System and graduated from George Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation, he became a Commissioned Officer in the Army serving 3 years with the Special Weapons Unit in Germany. After a tour of duty, he returned to the Johnson City area and spent 30 years with Eastman Chemical Company. He began a second career in South Bend, Indiana, which he described as the most rewarding part of his career. After returning to Johnson City to retire, an interest in computers led him to part-time employment at Computer Works. Bob was a man of many interests. He was an Eagle Scout. He received a private pilots license at age 16 and enjoyed flying for many years. He also owned and enjoyed motorcycles and vintage cars. Along with his wife, he collected and restored antique and vintage dolls. This hobby led to establishing a doll hospital with clients throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. Bob was known among family and friends as the man who could fix anything. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed using his expertise in helping others. He was a member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores, a daughter, Dr. Linda McGlasson and her husband, Doug, of Kernersville, North Carolina, a granddaughter, Martha, of Boone, North Carolina, two grandsons, Andrew of Greensboro, North Carolina and Alex of Anderson, South Carolina. For those who wish, the family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Johnson City Animal Shelter, 525 Sells Ave., Johnson City. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 pm Friday, September 14, 2012 from the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Mr. Howard Walker will officiate. Burial will follow the services.
