Robert Lee Self

Rev. Robert Lee Self, age 70, of 328 Woodlyn Rd., Johnson City, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 22, 2006. He was a native and life long resident of Washington County and a son of the late Noah and Katherine Blevins Self. He had worked as a house mover, but his passion was preaching the Gospel at Princeton Free Will Baptist Church, where he had served as Pastor. Rev. Self was a hard worker, but he was first and foremost a family man that especially loved his grandbabies. In addition to his parents, Rev. Self was preceded in death by: three sons, Billy Joe, Ray Lee, and Hubert Self; two sisters; three brothers; and one grandson. Survivors include: his wife, Almar Wishon Self, of the home; three sons, Bobby Lee Self, Johnson City, Johnny Lee Self, St. Augustine, FL, and Steve Self, Johnson City; four daughters, Kathy Hartley, Anne Garland, and Ginger Casey, all of Johnson City, and Nellie Gilbert, Rosedale, VA; seventeen grandchildren, Amy Greg, Angie Richmond, John Paul Reed, Joni Self, Billy Ray Self, Chad Self, Matthew Hartley, David Hartley, Melinda Malone, Travis Garland, Cody Garland, Amanda Casey, Robbie Casey, Patricia Tipton, Kimberly Hyatt, and Thomas Self; ten great grandchildren; six sisters; many special nieces and nephews; and one very special brother-in-law, Charles Wishon. The Celebration of Life service for Rev. Robert Self will take place 8:00 PM Sunday in the Princeton Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Hilman, Bro. Howard Shaver, and Bro. Randy English will officiate. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Special music will be provided by the Humphreys Family and Jimmy Green and Dare Bennett. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at the church. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends will meet at Morris-Baker and proceed to the cemetery at 12:30 PM.
