August 31, 1925 — July 23, 2010

Robert S. Neal, 84, of 704 Georgia Street, Johnson City died Friday, July 23, 2010 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Neal was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County And a son of the late Herbert and Mamie Carter Neal. He was retired from maintenance and housekeeping at NHC Healthcare. Mr. Neal was a former member and deacon at the Asbury Presbyterian Church. He was a current member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Neal was a big baseball fan and supported the Atlanta Braves. He also loved to go to church and be with his families. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by: his first wife, Dessree Bunton Neal in 1997; and a brother, Ralph Neal. Survivors include: his wife, Norma J. Bates Neal of the home; two sons, Michael Neal of Jonesborough, Jerry and his wife Michelle Neal of Johnson City; three step-daughters, Brenda Marshall and Patricia Cole both of Johnson City and Linda Carder of Mosheim, TN; three brothers, Tommy Neal and Argil Neal both of Johnson City and Elmer Neal of Jonesborough; two sisters, Helen Neal Oliver and Carolyn Neal Presnell both of Johnson City; two grandsons, Jason Neal of Jonesborough and James Neal of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family of Robert S. Neal will receive friends on Monday, July 26, 2010 from 1 to 2 PM at Morris-Baker. The graveside funeral service will follow at 2:30 PM in the Monte Vista Memorial Park . Rev. Lenny Smith will officiate. The family request that memorial gifts may be given or sent to Jerry Neal ,a son.
