Roger Dale Hodges

Sgt. Roger Dale Hodges, 63, 2511 Louise Street, died Thursday, May 3, 2007 at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Sgt. Hodges was a Carter County native and had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a son of the late Albert L. and Doris Adkins Hodges. Sgt. Hodges was preceded in death by one brother, Robert E. Hodges and one sister, Judith Elaine Hodges Powers. He was a US Army Vietnam War veteran. Sgt. Hodges retired from the US Forestry Service as a Job Corp Supervisor. Sgt. Hodges attended King Springs Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Harold Anthony Hodges and Richard Lamarr Hodges both of Spokane, Washington; two brothers, Donald Ray Hodges and Terry Lee Hodges both of Johnson City; one sister, Trudy A. Hodges, Johnson City; six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews special friends, Donna Hodges, Kelly Beller, Michael Lyons, Lucille Carver, Kay Pierce, Thomas Herman as well as many friends and neighbors. A funeral service for Sgt.Hodges will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, May 10, 2007 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Pastor Bill Manual will officiate and be in charge of the music. Military graveside services will be held at 11 AM Friday at Monte Vista Memorial Park Mausoleum. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 AM and travel in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mike Grindstaff, Claude Gobble, Tony Hodges, Rick Hodges, Bobby Alley, Donald Ray Hodges and Randy Powers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Buck, James R. Booth, Jr, Cameron Powers and Steve Myers. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of his sister, Trudy Hodges, 272 Sinking Creek Road, Johnson City, TN.
