Ronald Curtis Whitson

Mr. Ronald Curtis Whitson, 60, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was the son of the late Nick and Helen Beatrice Whitson. Ron graduated from Unicoi County High School in 1974. He worked remotely for Nokia Siemens Network as a Telecommunications Manager. Prior to that he worked for Sprint/Embarq/Century Link for over 30 years in the same field. These positions allowed him to travel and make lasting friendships all over the world. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ. He was an active deacon with duties that included managing the website and church directory. He was also an active member of the Kings Mountain Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, holding numerous positions over the years, including chapter president and state webmaster. His favorite activities included playing disc golf, fishing, running, yard work, and genealogy. His work ethic and willingness to help others made a lasting impact on everyone he knew. Many will fondly remember him as a loving and dedicated husband, father, brother, and friend. Survivors include his wife of thirty-four years, Ginger Levette Whitson; one son, Jarrett Whitson and his wife Brittany; one daughter, Maci Whitson; one sister, Sheila McNabb and her husband Charles; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Mr. Ronald Curtis Whitson will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday, April 25, 2016, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8 PM with Minister Tim Hall officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 1 PM Tuesday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Gary Jackson, Charles McNabb, Gary McNabb, Phil Erwin, Lou Thornberry, and Bill Wirt. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Copas, John Bannister, and the men of the Central Church of Christ. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 12:15 PM Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Central Church of Christ, 2722 E. Oakland Avenue, Johnson City TN 37601.
