Ruth Curd

Ruth Shell Curd, 84 of Watauga, died April 1, 2006 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Elizabethton. She was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County, daughter of the late, Ollie E. and Nellie Humphrey Shell. Mrs. Curd was a homemaker and dedicated wife and mother. She was a member of the Lick Creek Christian Church and had served the church in many ways, organist, Sunday School teacher, member of the choir and belonged to the Ladies Circle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy D. Curd in 1998; a daughter, Judy Curd in 1994; two grandsons, Jefferson Donald Davis 1991 and Kris Michael Curd in 1992; and a brother, Ollie Shell, Jr. in 2004. Survivors include: two sons and their wives, Donald Robert Curd and Jacqueline of Telford, Rudy LeRoy Curd and Theresa of West Jefferson, NC; a daughter and her husband, Linda Carol Davis and William Lon of Watauga; two sisters, Nola Meridith of Johnson City and Dean Carr and her husband John; a sister-in-law, Sandra Shell of Gray; nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, one step granddaughter and two step great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris - Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, under the direction of Mr. Terry Lyons. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Danny Davis, Jesse Davis, Donald Robert Curd, II, Tim Sams, Jim Eldred, Robert Dean Carr and Marvin Curd; honorary pallbearers will be: the men of the Lick Creek Christian Church, friends and neighbors and the Sycamore Shoals Hospital ICU and 3rd floor staffs. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to: the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Rd.
