Ruth Day Rickman

Ruth Day Rickman, 95, Johnson City, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 at Appalachian Christian Village. Ruth was a native of Johnson City and daughter of the late Harvey and Nannie Byrd Day. She and her husband lived 23 years in Maryland and Florida before moving back to Johnson City. Ruth worked for Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company for many years as an office manager in the Maryland office out of D.C. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Ann King Sunday school Class and Circle #1. She was a former member of the Monday Club Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, William M. Rickman; 5 brothers, Luster Day, Tasker Day, Monroe Day, Edison Day, and George Day; 3 sisters, Vivian D. Kelly, Alpha Day Howard, and Ella Day. Survived by: 3 brothers, Charles R. Day, of Abingdon, VA, Frank L. Day, of Clifton Park, NY, and Garnett R. Day, of Johnson City; one sister, Jessie J. Day, of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. The family and friends of Ruth Rickman will meet at Monte Vista Memorial Park?s Mausoleum Chapel. An entombment service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, May 18, 2015 by Gerald Malcolm. Special thanks to the nursing wing at Appalachian Christian Village, especially Mary, Carol, and Tina.
