Mr. Samuel Eugene Ford, age 78, of 204 Old Mountain View Road, Piney Flats passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mr. Ford was a native of Johnson City. He was the son of the late Elmer Guy Ford and Nellie Fagan Ford. In addition to his parents his wife, Virginia Louise Ford; three brothers, Elmer Ford, Jr., Robert Ford and Douglas Ford; one son-in-law, Michael Hodge also preceded him in death. Mr. Ford retired from General Shale as a Grinder Operator. Survivors include: Teresa Woods and her husband Bobby of Elizabethton, Lora Hodge of Jonesborough and Patricia Hall of Gray; four sons, Tony Ford and his wife Teresa of Piney Flats, Randy Ford and his wife Maria of Gray, Sammy 'Rat'? Ford and his wife Lisa of Johnson City and Mickey Ford of Johnson City; three sisters; one special brother, Wayne Ford and his wife Linda; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; special dog, Lady, who was by his side day in and day out. The funeral service for Mr. Samuel Eugene Ford will be conducted at 8 PM Friday, May 20, 2011 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 10 AM Saturday in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 9:15 AM Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road Suite 102, Johnson City, Tn. 37601.
