Sara L Hayes, 82, of 703 E. Maple St., Johnson City, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at her residence. She was a native of Chesterfield, SC and had lived in Johnson City and Kannapolis, NC most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Harold L. and Fannie Gaskins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnny K. Hayes, Sr., one sister, Grace Berryman; three brothers, Fred Gaskins, Carl Gaskins and Charles 'Bo' Gaskins. Sara was the Pastor of The Bible Church in Johnson City and was a retired employee of Milligan College. Survivors include; her children, Tony Hayes and his wife, Patsy, Johnny K. Hayes, Jr. and his wife Becky and Patricia Hyder and her husband, Gary; three brothers, Boyce Gaskins and Robert Gaskins both of NC and Harold Gaskins of PA; grandchildren, Tony Hayes, Jr., Tonya Harrell, Rhonda McMullin, Brenda Vest, Kimberly Combs, Jeff Barnes and Patrick Hyder; great grandchildren, Dustin R. Harrell, Marissa Hayes, Shelby Hayes, Krystal Macy, Katilyn Vest, Sara Combs, Haley Dykes, Madison Combs, Brandi McMullin, Logan McMullin, Cameron, Taylor and Austin Hyder; great great grandchildren, HaileyMacy and Lita Macy. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday from The Biible Church, 715 Kingsprings Road, Johnson City. Rev. Becky Trammell, Rev. Eddie Ledford and Rev. L.C. Tester will officiate. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Richard Tester, Eddie Pealer, Eddie Macy, Ralph Harp, Danny Snyder and Jack Crosswhite. Honorary pallbearers will be Dayton Babb, Jerry English and Cecil Reed. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 9:00 PM Wednesday.
