Shirley Ann Young

Shirley Ann Young, 84, of Watauga, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, surrounded by her family.
She was a native of Johnson City, a daughter of the late Fred Lee and Mary Keys Charlton.
Shirley’s husband, John, was in the Navy for over 30 years, and the family traveled extensively in this time. The couple kept traveling afterward, showing Tennessee Walking Horses as they went.
Later, she was a member of the Wayside Baptist Church in Johnson City, which she devoted a lot of her time to. Shirley loved her family, especially the grandkids. Watching gameshows or passing time on the front porch seeing the traffic roll by was also a favorite pastime.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: loving husband, John W. Young; Mother-in-law, Edith Harrington; grandson, Joshua Scott; sons-in-law, Larry Scott and Roger Henegar; sisters, Helen Blankenship and Marie Brown; brothers, Howard Charlton and Virgil Charlton.
She is survived by: daughters, Tisa Scott and Loretta Lee Blake; grandchildren, Crystal Graves and her husband Brandon, Jessica Ahn, and Dakota Scott; great grandchildren, Sophia and Lakota; sons-in-law, Brian Ahn and Terry Blake; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, June 3, 2019, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service, officiated by Chaplain Chris Hughes, will be held at 12:00 PM. A committal will follow, conducted at 1:00 PM, at Monte-Vista Memorial Park. Acting pallbearers will be: Tommy Scott, Brian Ahn, Nick Blake, Dakota Scott, Brandon Graves, and Terry Blake.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Amedisys Hospice.
