Stephenson Girard Thomas, Jr.

Stephenson Girard Thomas, Jr., age 90, of Skyland Drive, Kingsport, TN died Thursday, September 7, 2006 in the Life Care Center in Elizabethton. Mr. Thomas was a native and lifelong resident of Sullivan County and was a son of the late Stephenson Girard Thomas, Sr. and Fannie St. John Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a retired electrician for Mead Corporation with 42 years of service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kingsport. Mr. Thomas is preceded in death by: his wife Norma Bolling Thomas in 1988; a son, Stephenson Girard Thomas, II in 1998; and one brother, Bill Thomas. Survivors include: two grandsons, Steven G. Thomas, III and Chris S. Thomas both of Gray, TN; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Thomas of Gray; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Thomas of Johnson City. The funeral service for Stephenson G. Thomas, Jr. will be conducted at 7:30 PM Saturday, September 9, 2006 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Keith Williams will officiate. Music for the service will be by Rev. and Mrs. Keith Williams. The graveside service will be held at 3 PM Sunday in the Morning View Cemetery in Bluff City. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 2:50 PM Sunday. Honorary pallbearer will be Jack Childress. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 7:30 PM Saturday, prior to the service.
