Sylvia Marie Mitchell

Mrs. Sylvia Marie Mitchell, age 100, formerly of Johnson City, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, in Roanoke, Virginia. She was a native of Pike County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Minerva Mounts Mitchell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, James Irvin, three brothers, Cecil, Drewry, and Anderson. Sylvia was a retired school principal and member of the Central Christian Church. Survivors include four grandchildren, Jackie, Shannon, Amanda and Jamie; numerous great- grandchildren; three sisters, Geraldine Tanner, Maye Ratliff, and Rebecca Ferrell. The funeral service for Mrs. Sylvia Marie Mitchell will be conducted at 11 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2012, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Mr. Steve Hill will officiate. The graveside committal service will follow in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Saturday prior to the service.
