Thomas A. Moore

October 22, 1933 — July 12, 2013

Thomas A. Moore, age 79, of Johnson City, died Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Ferrum, VA, who had lived in Bristol, Piney Flats and Erwin prior to moving to Johnson City in 1999. He was a son of the late Della Elizabeth Shelor and Joseph A. Moore, Sr. Mr. Moore was a member of Boones Creek Bible Church. He was a retired social worker with the American Red Cross and the Department of Human Services. Mr. Moore was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a die-hard fan of Tennessee High sports and every year looked forward to the beginning of the Johnson City Cardinals season. In addition to his parents, his wife, Jeannia Hart Moore, and brother, Joseph A. Moore, Jr., preceded him in death. Survivors include: son, Larry A. Moore, and his wife Melanie, Piney Flats; daughter, Lora Gilreath, and her husband Randy, Piney Flats; five grandchildren, Samuel Gilreath, Channing Bennett, Brandon Moore, Jaedon Bennett, and Autumn Moore, all of Piney Flats; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Thomas A. Moore will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, July 15, 2013 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Pastor Dale W. Cunningham will officiate. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 16, 2013 in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to meet at Morris-Baker by 9:40 AM Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery for those services.
