Thomas Dean Martin, 45, of Middletown, CT, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016. Dean grew up in Johnson City, TN and had resided in Middletown, CT for last 17 years. He was the son of Charles Martin and the late Elaine Riggs Martin of Johnson City, TN. Dean loved his children, Kalen and Mackenzie, with all his heart and enjoyed spending time with them. In his free time, Dean loved playing golf and hanging out at the 19th hole with his buddies. Dean graduated from Science Hill High School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of various engineering professional and honor societies. Dean held multiple positions at various companies throughout his 22 year engineering career. The majority of his engineering career was spent working for Pratt & Whitney, and most recently at GKN. Dean truly loved the many friends, colleagues and co-workers he was blessed to know during his life. Dean was of the Methodist faith and a member of Piney Flats United Methodist Church. In addition to his mother, Dean was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Harry & Grayton Riggs of Elizabethton, TN and Glenn & Thelma Martin of Piney Flats, TN and his father-in-law, Kenneth Wayne Nottingham of Kingsport, TN. Survivors include: his wife, Kelly Nottingham Martin; son, Kalen Martin; daughter, Mackenzie Martin of Middletown, CT; father, Charles Martin of Johnson City; sister, Julie Pelphrey and her husband Jerry Pelphrey of Somerset, KY and their daughters Challie and Laney Pelphrey; mother-in-law Linda Harr Nottingham of Stuart, FL; sister-in-law Laura Nottingham-McKelton and her husband Ken McKelton of Jupiter, FL and their children Noah and Amara McKelton; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. The family of T. Dean Martin will receive family and friends from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 13, at Morris-Baker. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Eddie Smith officiating. The committal service will follow the funeral at Edgefield United Methodist Church, Piney Flats, TN. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Pelphrey, Scott Bowers, Dana Riggs, Mark Jones, John Harmon, Drew Austin, Larry McClanahan, and Robbie McGuire. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken McKelton, Dale Harr, Dean Torbett, Don McCracken, Jerry Nave, Jake Cross, Robert King, Darius Hensley, Wayne Andes, Eric Andes, Chris Desko, Kenny Larkey, Bill Priester, J Sam Daniels, Warren Riggs, Wayne Jones, Robert Martin, Ronnie Martin, Brad Teague, PC Snapp, Joe Toth, Mike Piaceniti, Jim Heckman, Chad Buhler, Ken Tosi, Craig Lady, and the Science Hill Class of 1989. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Rd., Johnson City, TN 37601, or 370 Hunting Hill Ave., Middletown, CT 06457-4334.
