Thomas Joseph Rader

Thomas Joseph Rader, age 89, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 in the NHC Healthcare of Johnson City. Mr. Rader was born in Midway, Tennessee, a son of the late Lewis and Nola Davis Rader. Mr. Rader was a veteran having served in the United States Army and World War II. He was the Motel Manager of the Parkway Motel, a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church of Greeneville and attended Edgefield United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rader was preceded in death by his wife, Clevia LaRhea Rader, one step daughter, Darline Balon, one grandson, Thomas Allan Rader, six brothers, David, L.V., Luke, Benjamin, Ted, and Lewis Rader, and two sisters, Beryl Rader and Ruth Wolfe. Mr. Rader is survived by one daughter, Sandy Sluder and husband Bob, of Piney Flats, TN; three sons, Charles 'Chuck'? Rader and fiancé Gail Adkins, of Johnson City, Gary Rader and wife Denise, of Radcliff, KY, and Thomas 'Tommy'? Rader and wife Jeanne, of Newton, IA; one step son, Father Jerry Finnestad, of ND; five sisters, Mary Cox and husband Robert, of Greeneville, TN, Medra Justice and husband Franklin, of Raleigh, NC, Lucy Mottern, of Midway, TN, Willie Kate Parvin, of Knoxville, TN, and Dolly Young, of Russellville, TN; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday evening, October 28, 2010 in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Pastor Estel Williams officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday afternoon, October 29, 2010 in the Edgefield United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors to be rendered by the Boone Dam VFW Post #4933 and members of the Tennessee Army National Guard. Pallbearers will be family and friends. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 12:30 pm Friday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Edgefield United Methodist Church, 745 Pickens Bridge Road, Piney Flats, TN., 37686. Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2001 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, TN., 423-282-1521, is in charge of arrangements.
