Thomas Selmer Lowe

Mr. Thomas Selmer Lowe, 79, of Johnson City died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in the Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol. Mr. Lowe was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was a son of the late George W. and Annie Lowe. Mr. Lowe was a retired State Farm Insurance agent with twenty years of service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Mr. Lowe was a member of the Boone Trail Baptist Church, the Johnson City Masonic Lodge # 486, all York Rite Bodies and the Jericho Shrine, North Johnson City Business Club, and the Model A Car Club. He is preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Betty Blevins Lowe in 1995; one son, Thomas Lowe; several brothers and two sisters. Survivors include: one son, G. Keith Lowe and wife Lori of Jonesborough; two daughters, Sherry Sue Carden and husband Jim of Johnson City and Deborah E. Lowe, of Jonesborough; two brothers, Roby Lowe and Delmer Lowe, both of Johnson City; two sisters, Yvonne Arnett and Georgia Lowe ,both of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Jimmy Carden of Nashville, Jason Lowe of Memphis, Heath Lowe of Knoxville, Shanna Ortloff of Jonesborough, and Coye Lowe of Knoxville; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family of Thomas Selmer Lowe will receive friends on Saturday, May 22, 2010 in the Mausoleum Chapel of the Monte Vista Memorial Park from 10 to 11 AM. A service of entombment will follow at 11 AM in the Mausoleum Chapel. Tim Hall, Minister will officiate. The family request that memorials be sent to: The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Knoxville, 6408 Papermill Drive #230, Knoxville, Tn. 37919, The Shriners Hospital, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607 or to Dawn Of Hope, 500 East Oakland Avenue, Johnson City Tn. 37601. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the day and night shifts nurses in the 2200 wing of Johnson City Medical Center for their care and concern of Mr. Lowe. Also a special Thank You to Dr. Ray Lamb and Dr. Dimka Tountcheva for their care.
