Thurman Gene Hensley

Thurman Gene Hensley, 74, of Limestone, died Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. Mr. Hensley was a native of Unicoi. He was a son of the late Floyd and Creedie Martin Hensley. Mr. Hensley was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the US Army. He loved farming and raising cattle. He worked as a ceiling tech for Dockery in Johnson City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Hensley, Bud Moore, and Wayne Hensley; and sister, June Richardson. Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Linda Cox Hensley; three children, Kimberly Ball, Amy Greene and her husband Brian, and Michael Hensley and his wife Kristen; six grandchildren, Joshua and Kelsey Ball, Nathan and Drew Greene, and Case and Zane Hensley; two brothers, Cecil and Granville Hensley; and sister, Nelda Runion. The family of Mr. Thurman Hensley will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm Monday, August 15, 2016 in the Morris-Baker Dogwood Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm Monday under the direction of Rev. Joe Beaver. The committal service is scheduled for 1:45 pm Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The Boone Dam VFW Post 4933 will accord military honors. Please meet at Morris-Baker by 1:15 pm Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of Franklin Woods Community Hospital and Wellmont Cancer Institute, and to Rev. Joe Beaver of Bowmantown Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
