Tommie Wolfe

Mrs. Tommie Kirby Wolfe, 92, of 217 Main Street, Piney Flats, died Sunday, April 17, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. Mrs. Wolfe was a daughter of the late Robert M. and Myrtle Kirby. She was a native of Carroll County, Tennessee but had lived in Piney Flats most of her life. In addition to her parents Mrs. Wolfe was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Robert Wolfe, Jr., a daughter, Hildred Carolyn Wolfe, a brother, Robert Lewis Kirby and a sister, Mary Nell Kirby Khoury. Mrs. Wolfe was a 1937 graduate of East Tennessee State University, a member of the Eastern Star, a beloved teacher in Sullivan County for twenty five years and a devoted member of the Piney Flats United Methodist Church where she served in various capacities. Survivors include; five daughters and four sons- in -law, Mary Ann and James C. Hager, Jr. of Columbus, OH, Elizabeth and Mayland Muse Jr. of Johnson City, Connie and John Landreth of Piney Flats, Winifred and John Quaintance of Jonesborough and Martha Wolfe Johnson of Knoxville; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and one sister- in -law, Hildred Wexler Wolfe; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Special caregivers, Nataliya Milchailovna Kevglyak and Yvonne Gross. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday from the Piney Flats United Methodist Church. Rev. Laura Rasor and Rev. Mack Houston will officiate. Burial will follow in the Shell Cemetery. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Robert Muse, Jefferson Hunter Goebel, James C. Hager, III, Ronald Langkamp, Patrick Gilmer, Zane Painter and Doug Vaughn. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
