Toy Luther Nelson

Toy Luther Nelson, 66, of 517 Griffith Way, Erwin died Monday, December 10, 2007 in the Erwin Health Care Center. Mr. Nelson was a native of Washington County and had lived most of his life there. He was a son of the late Robert and Bertha Perry Nelson. He was retired employee of the Johnson City Park and Recreation Department in the care and maintenance of the ball fields. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Nelson is preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife, Anna Mae Johns Nelson in 1990; two daughters, Joann Nelson and Gracie Bryant. Survivors include: his wife, Lola Griffith Nelson of the home; one step son, Scott Street of Erwin; one step daughter-in-law, Theresa Street of Erwin; one step daughter, Misty Street of Erwin; two sisters, Mary Miller and Martha Mitchell, both of Johnson City; two brothers, Paul Nelson and Ed Nelson, both of Johnson City; nephews, James Ward of Johnson City and Rick Ward of Elizabethton; three step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; several other nieces and nephews. The graveside funeral service for Toy L. Nelson will be conducted at 2:30 PM Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Rev. Jim Griffith and Rev. Randy Griffith will officiate. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Thursday at Morris-Baker prior to the service. A procession will then go to the cemetery.
