Velma May Mauk

Velma May Mauk, 85 of 500 E. Watagua Ave., died Saturday, May 27, 2006 at the Lifecare Center of Gray following a brief illness. She was a retired secretary for Harris-Tarkett and native of Washington County. She was a daughter of the late Q. N. and Iva Kyker Mauk. Miss Mauk was a member of the Salem Presbyterian Church. Velma loved life, her family, friends and her cats. She also loved tending her flowers and plants and was known for her baking of pies and cakes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers Lewis and Everette Mauk and two sisters Juanita Conley and Arlene Snell. Survivors include: her twin sister, Alma Hart of Concord, NC and a brother Joe Mauk of Washington College; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in the Salem Presbyterian Church Cemetery under the direction of Rev. Mike Pelham. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and then go in procession to the cemetery. Burial will follow the service.
