Vincent Stuart Singleton

September 25, 1953 — June 28, 2010

Our beloved brother, a son, father, grandfather and guiding light Vincent Stuart Singleton, 56, of Johnson City, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2010 in the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was a native of Bristol, VA and a son of the late, Wanda Faith Kincer Singleton. Mr. Singleton was formerly a Professor at East Tennessee State University. He was also a reporter for the Knoxville News Sentinal, Bristol Herald-Courier and the Kingsport Times-News. He received a Bachlors in Creative Writing at Emory and Henry. He received his Masters in English at E. T. S. U.Survivors include; two daughters, Gwendolyn Stopkowitz of Spinedale, NC and Kimberly Singleton Carter of Asheville,NC; two sisters, Vanessa Haskins of Kingsport and Virginia Hagy of Bristol, VA; three grandchildren, Evan Stuart Carter, Noah John Carter and Keira Fallon Singleton. A celebration of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 9:00 pm at Perkins Restaurant in Johnson City.
