Virgil Cooper

January 26, 1926 — December 28, 2005

Virgil 'Red' Cooper, went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 28th, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Bell County, Kentucky on January 26th, 1926, son of the late Joe and Matilda Cooper. He was a member and past deacon of West Side Christian Church in Jonesborough. Mr. Cooper was owner and operator of Red?s Cab Company and also operated a lawn care business. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Leaman Cooper. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Nell Campbell Cooper; four sons, Freddie and his wife Phyllis of Johnson City, Gary and his wife Martha of Rogersville, Randy and his wife Dolores of Johnson City and Scotty and his wife Ronda of Telford; grandchildren, Shannon Crouthers, LeAnne Kirk, Clint Cooper, Sheri, Allison and Robert and Chris Cooper, Todd Cooper and Mackenzee, great grandchildren, Derek and Lexi Crouthers, Kobalt Cooper-King, Eric Banks and Jacob and Emily Kirk; a brother, Tilford Cooper of Johnson City and sisters, Pansy Jackson of Johnson City and Sarah Rogers of Jonesborough. Funeral services for Mr. Cooper will be conducted at 1:30 PM at Morris-Baker Funeral Home North Chapel on Friday, December30th. Mr. Ron Goss will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Maplelawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be men of the church.
