Wanda Lea Raines

April 20, 1953 — March 1, 2020

Wanda Raines, 66, “made her move to glory” on Sunday, March 1, 2020, after a protracted and courageous battle with a rare and aggressive blood disorder, Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia.

She was an exceptional woman and will be sorely missed. She will be remembered as a woman of great strength, kindness, creativity, humor, and integrity.

Wanda was a native of Jellico, TN and graduate of Jellico High School, class of ‘71. She had resided in Piney Flats, TN since 1971. She was a typesetter at Big Jack and later spent 40 years working in medical insurance, both at Provident/Cigna in Bristol, TN and Pinnacle Family Health Care in Johnson City, TN.

She was a member of Tri-Cities Church of God where she was Children’s Church Director for 25 years. She was an avid and gifted puppeteer who volunteered her services at Bible Schools throughout the Tri-Cities area.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura Perry, Piney Flats; ex-husband, Charles Perry, Jr, also of Piney Flats; sister, Aleen Muse of Lawton, OK; sister, Judy Bewley (and husband, Ken) of Elizabethton, TN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Litt “Buster” Raines and Jean Ivey Raines, and brother-in-law, Norton Muse.

Family will receive friends at Morris-Baker Funeral Home on Saturday, March 7 from 1:00-2:30 with funeral at 2:30. Interment immediately to follow at New Bethel Presbyterian Church, 592 New Bethel Rd, Piney Flats, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please donate blood or plasma. Contact the Blood Donation Center at 423-282-7090 for help locating a donation center.
The family would like to express their gratitude for all blood and plasma donors.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7 8
