Wayne H. Gray

February 14, 1940 — July 21, 2006

Wayne H. Gray, 66, Jonesborough, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 21, 2006. He was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, Tennessee, and a son of the late Cecil and Verna Wheelock Gray. Mr. Gray was a U. S. Army veteran. He retired from Burlington Industries. He was a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church, Johnson City. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his brother, Pastor Lloyd Gray, and two brothers-in-law, Fritz Huffine and Lynn Edwards. Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Oliver Gray, of the home; two daughters, Lisa Yoder, and her husband Mark, Jonesborough, and Teresa McNeese, and her husband Larry, Unicoi; special grandson, Caleb McNeese, Unicoi; brother, Jess 'Bud' Gray, and his wife Betty, Jonesborough; four sisters, Kathleen Edwards, Jonesborough, Delores Huffine, Johnson City, Barbara Burgner, and her husband James, Chuckey, and Shirley Anderson, Georgia; sister-in-law, Patsy Gray, Jonesborough; special friend, Colleen Buchanan, Jonesborough; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Wayne Gray will receive friends from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at Morris-Baker with the funeral service following at 8:00 PM in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Pastors Eddie McAmis, David Castle, and Tom Lawson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gary Edwards, David Gray, Randall Gray, Rick Burgner, Jeff Ferguson, Bud Gobble, Ted Thompson, Jimmy Laws, Bartley Sparks, and Bobby Sims. Honorary pallbearers will be Willard 'Red' Grissom, 'Jim' Alfred Oliver, Arvil Hughes, Grady Scott, Ernest Strickland, Bob Cole, Jim Southerland, Gayle Rhudy, Eric Green, J. D. Steadman, and Bob Sims. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday from the Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at Morris-Baker by 10:30 AM Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery for those services.
