William Arthur Wiley III of Johnson City passed unexpectedly Thursday, October 17, 2019.
Bill, “Buddy” to those who knew him best, was born on December 28, 1956 in Greenville, SC. He shared an incredible marriage with Freta, to whom he was married for 37 years. Family was everything to Buddy – his relationships with his wife, parents, children and dogs were the things he cherished most.
Those who knew him best appreciated his kindness, comedic wit, brilliance, and beautiful soul. He had a life-long passion for learning and reading. His mind was an unending pool of knowledge – you could always ask him a question and he would have an answer or opinion on it. Playing guitar and listening to music into the evening was a favorite hobby of his. He enjoyed talking news, politics, history, spirituality for hours on end.
Buddy had an incredible career path that took him to many places. He had great business insight unique ability to look at the world and see the next “big thing”.
He held friends Bill Cox, Chuck Essick and Gary Taylor in high esteem.
Buddy notably survived the Miracle on the Hudson plane crash ten years ago.
He had a deep appreciation for the United States Armed Forces and loved America.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother Charles L. Wiley; Uncles Jerry L. Denman Kenneth A. Denman Jr.; grandparents Kenneth A. Denman Sr. Evelyn Denman; William A. Wiley Sr. Virginia Walker Wiley.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Freta; sons William A. Wiley IV Alexander T. Wiley; daughter Laura Bryant Grindstaff; granddaughter Erin T. Grindstaff son Liam D. Grindstaff; parents Dr. William A. Wiley Jr. Mary Pat Wiley; brother Christopher D. Wiley Sr. family.
His wishes were to be cremated with a private memorial service at the family home.
