William Doug Vaughn

July 6, 1965 — November 23, 2015

but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) William 'Doug' Vaughn soared to his Heavenly home on Monday, November 23, 2015 at the age of 50. Doug is survived by his wife and soul mate of 20 years, Karol; their beloved dogs, Roxanne and Lola; sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Richard Shepherd; brother and sister-in-law, Phil and June Sheppard; sister, Sherry Vaughn and nephew and his wife Anthony and Marsha Sheppard. Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Cleo Vaughn and father William Buddy Vaughn. Doug loved the outdoors and his favorite place to be was on the family island on the French Broad River. Camping, fishing, playing in the river, watching the beautiful sunsets and then 'sittin and a starin' by the campfire all brought him great joy. He loved his work and was just as enthusiastic about others work successes. He very often expressed his joy by singing and never let being off tone or pitch stand in the way of belting out whatever song was on his heart. His infectious sense of humor was a gift to everyone he encountered. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the amazing doctors, nurses, technicians and staff at Johnson City Medical Center that cared so compassionately for Doug during his time there. May God bless you all. Doug will always be remembered as a loving husband and cherished friend to many. He touched hearts with his generous personality and was a true blessing to all who knew him. While we rejoice for Doug that he has reached his eternal home with our Heavenly Father, he will be missed everyday until we are called to join him. To celebrate Doug?s life, a tribute will be planned for a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to Niswonger Childrens Hospital by going to www.mshafoundation.org, Donate Now, Designate: Niswonger Children?s Hospital and please include Doug Vaughn in the Tribute Information.
