William E. Boarman, Sr.

July 30, 1924 — October 27, 2006

W. E. 'Bill' Boarman, Sr., 82, of 3330 Berkshire Circle, Johnson City, died Friday, October 27, 2006 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Springfield, Illinois, son of the late James Abel and Vernon Lee Jackson Boarman, but had been raised mostly in Carrollton, IL. Bill was a WWII veteran having served in the 'Mighty 8th' Air Force of the Army Air Corps, in the 391st Air Squadron of the 34th Bomb Group, served in the based in Mendelsham, England. He worked briefly for General Shale and had worked in Washington D.C. for Eastern Airlines where he met and married his wife of 50 years, Stephanie Brzyski Boarman who died in 1999. His career working for the U.S. Treasury Department for 32 years in the Bureau of Accounts, Washington D.C. and U. S. Customs Service serving as Financial Manager in Houston, Texas and as Assistant Regional Commissioner in Los Angeles, California and Baltimore, Maryland. He retired in 1980. In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Theodore and two sisters, Betty and Rita. Survivors include: a son, W.E. Boarman, Jr. of the home, two daughters, Marylee Boarman of Cedar Hill, Texas and Patricia VandenHeuvel and her husband Chris of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; a brother, Don Boarman and two sisters, Patricia Brinkley and Marilyn Shepard, all of Johnson City; two grandchildren, Madeleine and William Jameson VandenHeuvel both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; numerous extended family and friends. A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Monte Vista Memorial Park under the direction of Rev. Mike Pelham. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Morris - Baker Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday by 10:30 a.m. to leave in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Boarman?s name to the: Alton Catholic Childrens Home, 1400 State Street, Alton, IL 62002.
