William Edward Bill Burdick

April 14, 1917 — November 18, 2005

William 'Bill' Edward Burdick, 88, 418 Laurels Road, died Friday, November 18, 2005 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Burdick was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was a son of the late Edward Blackshear Burdick and Anna Mae Peebles Burdick and was also preceded in death by one sister, Edna Burdick. Mr. Burdick and his brother, Harry E. Burdick were the owners of Burdick Printing Company. He was a US Army WWII veteran. Mr. Burdick was a member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion and the Johnson City Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Jane Taylor Burdick; two sons, Lawrence E. Burdick and Kent Martin Burdick, both of Johnson City; one daughter, Beverly Ann Morton and her husband, Duke, Knoxville; one brother, Harry E. Burdick, Johnson City; one sister, Patricia Ann Ruble, Johnson City; two grandchildren, Taylor Ann Kathleen Morton and Dawson Morton and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mr. Burdick will be conducted at 1 PM Monday, November 21, 2005 at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. The Reverend Brian Taylor will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time. Military and Masonic graveside services will follow at 2 PM at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN. Active pallbearers will be George Williams, Anthony P. Anderson, Cecil N. Blankenship, John S. Taylor, Dawson Morton, Duke Morton, Jack Cox and Joe Knisley. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Hart, Robert Coleman, Louis Cancellaro, Lee Ruble, Michael Carey, Mark Hemann, Stan Crawley and Paul Scherrer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to your favorite charity.
