William Jennings Rawls, Jr.

William 'Bill'? Jennings Rawls, Jr. 84, of Kingsport, TN, passed away at Remington House on May 20, 2010. He was born June 26, 1925 in Hollywood, Florida, son of the late William J. and Sadie R. McDonald Rawls. Bill was a retired U. S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel with 26 years of service, during which he saw service in three wars and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Gloria, sisters, Katherine Rawls and Evelyn McKee and an infant son Chris. Survivors include: a daughter, Nancy Locke and her husband Robert; daughter Pat Lu and her husband Ti Wan, son William J. Rawls, III and his wife Marina and son David and his wife Elizabeth, one grandson, Chris Locke and his wife Adair; step grandsons Clay Porter and Tony Norman and great granddaughters Erin Locke and Lauren Locke, sister Dorothy Williams, sister Peggy Wedgworth and husband George, sisters-in-law Joanne Malloch, Betty Jo McAmis, Connie Wood and Mary Lou Lewis and brother-in-law Bill and wife Carolyn and several nieces and nephews. Bill and his wife settled in their adopted home of Johnson City after spending 20 years traveling the U. S. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Morris '? Baker Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. at Monte Vista Memorial Park under the direction of Rev. Garland Thayer. Bristol VFW and the Tennessee National Guard will accord military honors.
