Wilma Ruth Niemi Govett After a long, happy and full life, Wilma Ruth Niemi Govett has passed away from this earth and has gone to a more peaceful place. She will be missed by her family and many friends from New Jersey, Tennessee and around the country. Ms. Govett worked as a RN in convalescent homes, hospitals, and clinics from 1945 to 1995. She nursed and 'doctored'? hundreds of family members and friends, who knew that they could always call on 'Willy'? to be there with a clear and concise knowledge of therapeutic care and a compassionate touch.She is survived by her daughters, Lyn A. Govette, Aimee Lee Govett, Adrienne S. Long, and her sons, Russell C. Govette III and Paul M. Govett; son in law, Stephen H. Long, daughter in law Carolyn Govette, grandchildren, Jessica McClurg, Aaron Long, Rusty Govett, Travis Coombs, Adam Govett, Joshua Barden, Seelye Coombs, Lindsay Long, Amye Govette, Jenna Govette, and great grandchildren, Breanna Govett, Amyra Perkins, and Brantley Long.Memorial Services will be held at the Snow Memorial Baptist Church, on Knob Creek Road, Johnson City, Tennessee on Thursday May 29, 2008 at 6pm. A Memorial service will also be held for Wilmas friends and family in the New Jersey area at the First Baptist Church, Grand Avenue, Asbury Park, New Jersey. Date to be announced.In keeping with the wishes of our mother the family is requesting no flowers be sent but rather donations be made in her name to Heifer Project International. In lieu of flowers please send donations to support of the people of Peru, where her sister Anna Louise Shanks served as a missionary for over 50 years.
