Wilma Seaver Graves

Wilma Seaver Onks Graves was translated from the Church militant to the Church Triumphant on Monday, September 27, 2010. She died of congestive heart failure at the Johnson City Medical Center at the age of 94. She was a resident in the Towers at Appalachian Christian Village, in Johnson City. Mrs. Graves was the daughter of the late Ralph and Nevada Seaver. Born at Dorchester, Virginia in 1916, she moved to Johnson City in 1925. Mrs. Graves joined First Presbyterian Church, Johnson City, in 1928 and was active in Womens Work, Sunday School teaching and administration, and Meals On Wheels. She also worked as a dental assistant to the late Dr. Alfred W. Jones for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James A. Onks, Sr. in 1957 and by her second husband, Homer K. Graves in 1989, a brother, Ralph 'Bud'? Seaver in 1972 and a sister, Lena Jones in 2010. She is survived by a son, James Onks and wife Marian of Johnson City; a daughter, Priscilla Onks Starnes and husband John of Tampa, FL; her step daughter, Jane Graves Ogle of Johnson City; her brother, Richard Seaver and wife Joan; two sisters, Betty Baker of Johnson City and Mary Louise Tislow of Terre Haute, IN; five grandchildren, Ted Onks of Bristol, Scott Onks of Kingsport, Matt Starnes and wife Alesia, and Kevin Starnes of Tampa, FL and Mark Starnes and wife Susan of Manassas, VA; four step grandchildren, Gordon Ogle of Charleston, SC, Lori Ogle of Kingsport, Becki Ogle George and husband Jimmy, and Cindy Ogle Nolte all of Johnson City; seven great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm in the Morris Baker South Chapel. The funeral service for Mrs. Wilma Seaver Onks Graves will follow at 2:30 pm with Rev. Louis Imsande officiating. Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 105 South Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604. Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2001 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, 423-282-1521, is in charge of arrangements.
