Alan Thomas Walters

June 4, 1953 — October 25, 2020

Alan Thomas Walters, 67, of Bristol, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2020.

He was born on June 4, 1953 in Johnson City TN, to the late Ulis J. and Virginia Ruth Walters.

Alan was of the Baptist faith. He attended South Jr. High and retired after 22 years with American Water Heaters.

At the time of his passing, Alan was living at Christian Care Center of Bristol. He liked his caretakers & enjoyed teasing them. He also made numerous friends. His favorite activity was playing bingo, though he usually gave away the prizes to others.

Alan had a love of old cars and could tell you every make and model, happy to do so while drinking Orange Crush and eating Cow Tails, his favorite candy. His brother Steve often brought him model cars, which he loved to collect.

He enjoyed meals that his family took to him and were able to share with him on a monthly basis until COVID shut down the nursing home. His family deeply regrets that they were unable to spend any time with him during the past eight months of his life due to the COVID restrictions and hope he knows how much he was loved and will be truly missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Alice W. Bennett.
Alan is survived by: brothers, Stephen Walters (Margaret Ann), Ray Walters (Mattie), and Michael Walters, all of Johnson City; sisters, Brenda Garrett, and Linda Baughman (Cecil) of Columbia, SC; as well as eleven nieces & nephews.

Alan will be interred at Fairview Cemetery in Jonesborough following a private ceremony.
