Dr. Anthony Paulantonio, 72, 107 Dogwood Lane, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 10, 2005 in the Holston Valley Medical Center with his wife at his bedside. Dr. Paul, as he was affectionately called, was a native of New York City and had lived in Johnson City since 1978. He was a son of the late Dominic and Rose Magliano Paulantonio. Dr. Paulantonio graduated from Fordham University and the University of Bologna, Italy, Medical School. He completed his internship at Polyclinic Hospital in New York and fulfilled a residency in Adult and Child Psychiatry. After practicing psychiatry for seven years he completed a second residency ( 1975-1978 ) in Diagnostic Radiology. His residency training consisted of Angiography, Ultra Sound, Nuclear Radiology and Computerized Tomography. Dr. Paul was in private practice in Hornell, New York, till 1979 when he joined the staff at Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home. Dr. Paul retired from the V.A.M.C. in 1993. There are many, many employees at the V.A. who will always remember him for his caring ways and corny jokes. His life of pain and sickness is over but he will be remembered always for his love and compassion. Dr. Paulantonio is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Angelina Del Genio. Anthony is survived by: his Loving and Devoted Wife, Phyllis Ann Petkus Paulantonio, of the home; two step-children, Michael Thorn and Marcy Wielki; two granddaughters, Margaret Ann Malin and Katherine Elizabeth Malin; a niece, Diane Yarosz and her son, Michael; a nephew, Anthony Del Genio; and several cousins. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 13, 2005, at 8 PM in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Father Gerard Finucane will be the Celebrant. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 12:30 PM Saturday to go in procession. Active pallbearers will be Don Loughry, Jim Onks, Bob Miller, John Campbell, Mark Glover and Winfred Keith. The family will receive friends in the Morris-Baker chapel from 6 to 8 PM Friday prior to the service. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary?s Catholic Church, 2211 E. Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601. If floral arrangements are sent, Dr. Paul?s favorite colors were blue, purple and yellow.
