Armarette Dykes

Armarette Atkinson Dykes passed away peacefully August 22, 2026.

Armarette was born April 25, 1937 and graduated from Arbyrd High School, Paragould, Arkansas in 1955. She attended the University of Missouri.

Armarette is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Dykes, Parents Ralph W. Atkinson and Armelda Sims Atkinson, Brothers, A.G. Atkinson, Charles Atkinson and Victor Atkinson and her Stepson Terry Dykes.

Armarette is survived by her sons, Jeffrey A. Dykes (Kim), Franklin, TN, Scott B. Dykes, Kingsport, TN, Thomas R. Dykes (Brandie), Kingsport, TN, Stepdaughter, Lana Dykes Abram, Ft. Worth, TX and Sister Barbara J. Shirley (CJ), Ft. Smith., AR. Grandchildren, Justin K. Dykes (Sarah), Kingsport, TN, Casey A. Dykes (Chaney), Eagleville, TN, Heather D. Sweat (Morgan), Hendersonville, TN, Halle B. Fagan (Eli), Kingsport, TN and her treasured Great-Grandchildren, Emersyn, Easton, Tate, Jett, Kash and Lainey. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews who she adored.

She was known as “Grandmother” by all and her eyes sparkled each time she saw her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

Armarette was a member of the Northeast Church of Christ. The family would like to give a special thank you to Minister Jay Cline, the Elders and the entire fellowship for their faithful prayers, love and support over the years.

Armarette was a woman of many talents, along with raising five children, she was a paralegal, prepared tax returns, owned a women’s dress shop, real estate investor, landlord and became a leading Realtor in the Northeast Tennessee area.

Most importantly, Armarette was a Matriarch to the entire family and will be missed greatly for the positive advice and wisdom she gave to all family and friends.

A very special friend once said of Armarette; “If “Friendship” were a color, you would be a Rainbow to me!”

The family would like to give as special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff members for the loving care and support given at N.H.C., Johnson City these past several months.

There will be a committal service at 11:00 am on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Historic Section, under the direction of Minister Jay Cline. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery.
