In Loving Memory of
AURELIANO CIGARROA TERRAZAS
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Aureliano Cigarroa Terrazas.
Aureliano shared more than 40 years of marriage with the mother of his children, Micaela Cigarroa. Together, they raised six children. He was the proud father of seven children, 20 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.
✝ He was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest brother, one grandson, and one great-grandson.
Born and raised in Las Huertas in Durango, Mexico, Aureliano later lived in Chicago and Houston before settling in Erwin in 1986. There, he spent many years surrounded by family, friends, and a community he deeply cherished.
After retirement, he returned to Durango, Mexico, where he enjoyed tending his beloved garden, affectionately known as his “office,” and spending time in the home he proudly built with his own hands.
Aureliano loved sports and enjoyed both playing and watching basketball and baseball. He was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan and rarely missed an opportunity to watch a game. He also had a passion for music and loved sharing his singing voice with family and friends.
Known for his warm heart, quick wit, and playful spirit, Aureliano never met a stranger. He had a deep appreciation for history and an incredible ability to recall stories and events. One of his most memorable traits was his ability to give nearly everyone a nickname, making people feel welcomed, special, and remembered.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing he is reunited with loved ones who went before him. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many family members and friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
He will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and greatly missed.
