Bertha Mae Grindstaff, 80, of Johnson City, died Friday, May 21, 2010 at her residence. She was a native of Johnson City, daughter of the late Frank Taylor and Nellie Orient Jackson Huff. Bertha was retired advertising salesperson for the Dallas Times Herald. Bertha was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Johnson City and the Nifty '? Fifties club. She loved wild flowers and never met a stranger, she was always the life of the party. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Webb, her second husband, Ernest Barrett, a sister Mary Ann Smith and an uncle, Raymond Huff. Survivors include: her husband Thomas E. Grindstaff of the home, a sister Elizabeth Sue Draper of Texas; six nieces, Deborah Atchley, Teresa Davis, Cindy Dennison, Carla Woods, Carolyn Sparks and Linda Davis; an aunt, Ruth Jackson of Dallas, TX; an uncle, Clarence Jackson of New Mexico and her many friends and church family. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the North Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Dr. Paull Dixon. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Kingsport, TN. Active pallbearers will be friends from her church. A procession will leave Morris '? Baker Funeral Home by 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday to the cemetery.
