Betty Lou Pickle, age 85, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, after an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of Johnson City, Betty was born on July 24, 1940, to the late Elbert Tipton Jones and Edith Rebecca Barlow Jones. She was a 1958 graduate of Jonesboro High School. Betty spent more than two decades working as a buyer for Britts and Belk, where she was known for her keen eye and dedication.
Betty found joy in shopping and tending to her flowers—especially her beloved yellow roses. She was also a devoted Elvis enthusiast, proudly curating an extensive collection over the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Howard Wayne Pickle.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Tammy Letterman (and Jeff Brown); her step-children, Gene Pickle, Gary Pickle, and Pam (Kevin) Bowling; her brother, Wayne Jones; and her special grand dog, Bentley.
Betty’s family will receive friends on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 1:00–2:00 p.m. at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Charles Biggs.
A committal service will be held on Monday, December 15, at 2:00 p.m., at Washington County Memory Gardens, in the mausoleum chapel. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Alan Archer, Terry Archer, Gene Pickle, Gary Pickle, and Alan Pickle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation at https://give.kidneyfund.org/.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Amedisys Hospice and Dr. Lauren Snapp for their devoted care.
