It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bobby Gene Dockery, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Bobby, a proud member of the "Big Red One" U.S. Army, served as a Corporal from 1953 to 1955. Born on February 9, 1932, in Del Rio, TN, he left this world on May 12, 2026, in Johnson City, TN.
Bobby dedicated 33 years of his life as a welder, 6 years in Newport News VA, where he helped build the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier. He retired from Eastman Kodak. Family meant everything to him, and he cherished the time spent with his daughters, Lisa Love and Mylinda Dockery, as well as his son, Lattie Dockery. He was an extraordinary grandfather to Gabe Jones, Mykalin Jones, Abbie Thompson, Hannah Love, and Ellen Love, and a proud great-grandfather to Ezekiel Allen Thompson.
He was devoted to his wife, Freda, with whom he shared 19 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in December 2004. Bobby's love for his mother, brothers, and sisters was immense, and his family ties ran deep. He is survived by his sister, Marie Miller, and brother, Conley Dockery, while he has been preceded in death by siblings C. L. Trentham, Verlie Williams, Edna Haney, Donald Dockery, and Zollie Berry. Bobby was preceded in death by parents Lattie Dockery, Geneva Dockery.
Bobby attended First Church of God in Johnson City, where his mother was a founding member. His life was a shining example of love, resilience, and dedication to family.
In memory of Bobby, a committal service with military honors at Mt. Home National Cemetery. will be Friday June 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
As we say goodbye to Bobby, we remember a remarkable man who always put family first. He will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Bobby's honor to First Church of God 801 west Watauga Ave Johnson City TN 37604
