Bonita West Obituary

Piney Flats - Bonita West of Piney Flats, Tennessee passed away on Monday, Sept. 7th, 2026 after fighting a long battle with dementia.

She passed away at her home surrounded by her family. She was well cared for at her home by her three daughters. She left this world with dignity and honored by her children always.

Born in Mountain City, Tennessee on April 23rd, 1940 to Boy Lowe and Cassie Lowe (Stamper). After the sudden death of her mother, Bonita was adopted at the age of two by her uncle and aunt, William "T" and Grace Stamper, also of Mountain City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Randy West and Rondal West; one daughter, Lori West; one granddaughter, Emily Lauman; one great-grandson, Phillip Watlington; and three sisters, Geraldine Hicks, Irene Hicks, and Christine Dye.

Survivors include two sisters, Janet Teale and Johnnie Davis; one brother, Jackie Fisher, all of Marion, North Carolina; three daughters, Trevia Bise (Wayne), Kathy Calandros, and Cindy West; and one son, Jimmy West, all of Piney Flats. Eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, along with several nephews and nieces, including two special nieces, Patricia Cullop and Priscilla Hicks.

Bonita was a long-time member of Mountain View Baptist Church, Johnson City. She looked forward to reuniting with her loved ones in Heaven.

She was a devoted wife and mother. She entered the workforce at the age of thirty-four, employed by Columbus Electric Company for over twenty years, where she made many lasting friendships.

She loved watching football and was a forever Dallas Cowboys fan. She was a long-time contributor to St. Jude Children's Hospital in honor of her granddaughter Emily.

The West family would like to thank Hospice nurses Sierra and Kinsey for their loving care.

The West family will receive friends for visitation at Morris-Baker Funeral Home in the Oak Hall on Monday, Sept. 14th, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
