Bonnie C Brumit

Bonnie Carmen Brumit, a beloved resident of Jonesborough, Tennessee, and a familiar face in the community, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on February 2, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Bonnie moved to Johnson City in 1946, where she planted her roots and nurtured a loving family.

Bonnie as her friends and family affectionately called her, was a powerhouse of creativity and knowledge. She and her late husband, Jim Brumit, owned and operated Summit Small Engine Repair since 1984, She was a strong woman with so much wisdom and talent whether it was how to sew a dress or fix a lawnmower. She will be truly missed.

She was an active member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School leader, sharing her faith and wisdom with many. While her friends and family will miss her dearly, they will forever cherish the memories of her warm smile and generous spirit.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Brumit; her son, Brian Cozad; and parents Charles & Carmen Baughen.

She is survived by her son, Allen Cozad; her three stepchildren-Mike, Debbie, and Gary  & (Debbie daughter-in-law) Brumit; and several grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of love.

The Brumit family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Friday August 14, 2026, at Morris Baker Funeral Home, with a Funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. Officiating the service will be Rev. Tony Trott. Committal service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday August 14, 2026, at Mt. Home National Cemetery 52 Veterans Way, Mountain Home, TN, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory.

In this time of sorrow, we remember a remarkable woman whose talents, love, and wisdom enriched the lives of so many. Bonnie Carmen Brumit will be missed, but she will never be forgotten.
