Carl W. Looper, 76, 2821 Browns Mill Road, Johnson City, died Friday, April 15, 2005, in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Looper was a native of Johnson City, had resided in Washington D.C., Oak Ridge, TN, and Knoxville before returning to Johnson City in 1961 to make his home. He was a son of the late Dewey and Monnie Woodruff Looper. Mr. Looper was a retired employee, with 30 years of service at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home as the Chief Accountant and later worked at Sears. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Looper was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty Brown Looper, in 1987. Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Donovan and Linda Looper, of Johnson City, Ronald and Melany Looper, of Fort Myers, FL; one daughter, Carleen Looper, of Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Carl W. Looper will be conducted at 4 P.M. Sunday, April 17, 2005, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. James Cambron and Rev. Brian Holloway will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 A.M. Monday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the funeral chapel at 9:30 A.M. to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 2 to 4 PM Sunday prior to the service.
